Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Chipoka Mulenga has commended the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) for the reforms being undertaken to improve tax administration in the country.
Mr. Mulenga has described as positive, strides ZRA is making to increase the country’s revenue collections.
He cited the introduction of Smart Invoice as an outstanding innovation in sealing revenue leakages.
The Minister was speaking this afternoon when he visited the ZRA pavilion at the just opened 59th Zambia International Trade Fair (ZITF).
Mr. Mulenga advised ZRA to work on system challenges affecting efficiency and effectiveness of the Smart Invoice system.
He also called for enhanced tax education and encouraged ZRA management and staff NOT to relent in their mandate of collecting taxes because government needs tax revenues to provide quality public services, including free education.
And ZRA Acting Director – Executive Support, Laban Simbeye, told the Minister and his entourage that the Authority shares the Nations desire of a shared future.
He said the Zambia Revenue Authority will continue to collaborate and cooperate with all stakeholders for mutual benefit.
Mr. Simbeye assured ZRA’s commitment to enhancing local businesses through innovations and effective trade facilitation.
Meanwhile, ZRA Director -Taxpayer Services and Education, Mirriam Sabi, reminded that the Authority has introduced a dedicated Unit for taxpayer services to enhance tax education and awareness among taxpayers.
The 59th Zambia International Trade Fair will run until 8th July, 2025.
