GROUNDNUTS & CASSAVA SEIZED BY ZRA AFTER TURNING INTO KONYAGI

The Zambia Revenue Authority has intercepted Two trucks carrying assorted smuggled alcohol with a revenue loss of over K890,000.

The interception of the to trucks carrying Konyagi, K-Vant and other alcoholic beverages occurred in Kapiri Mposhi when it was discovered that the goods were declared using falsified documents.

One driver claimed the truck was carrying groundnuts, cassava and sweet potatoes from Mansa, while the second truck had old ZRA receipts.

Both trucks and the goods have been seized in accordance with the Customs and Excise Act.

ZRA remains in high alert to curtail all forms of smuggling to protect government revenue. Importers, exporters and other stakeholders are all urged to make correct declarations and avoid actions that lead to forfeiture of their goods and possible prosecution.
