Finance and National Planning Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane has called on all citizens to pay their fair share of taxes.
Dr. Musokotwane has also reminded that taxation plays a critical role in national development.
Highlighting the positive impact the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) has on communities in Zambia, the Minister said taxes play a fundamental role in the provision of quality public services.
Dr. Musokotwane said this during a TownHall Meeting on 2021-2025 Economic Performance and the 2026 Budget and Economic outlook.
And delivering his presentation at the event, Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) Commissioner General Dingani Banda said the Authority has strengthened capacity to fight tax evasion or tax avoidance schemes.
ZRA has also stepped up enforcement efforts and deployed the data-based tax administration model to improve compliance.
Mr. Banda said ZRA is also enhancing controls on the Smart Invoice system to enhance compliance.
Meanwhile, Zambia Association of Manufactures (ZAM) president Umar Mohammed has praised measures taken by the Zambia Revenue Authority to combat illicit trade.
The Authority’s target for the year 2026 is K185 billion.
The town hall meeting organised by the Ministry of Finance was held under the theme, “Consolidating Economic and Social gains for a prosperous, resilient, and equitable future.”
