ZRA/BRE KUTA CONFER

The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) Commissioner General Dingani Banda, who is in Western Province on a 4-day working visit, has held a meeting with the Kuta, of the Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) in Limulunga Royal Village.

This is part of stakeholder engagement initiatives.

The Commissioner General was accompanied by some Senior Members of the ZRA Management Team and selected Union officials.

Receiving the ZRA delegation, Ngambela Mukela Manyando, the prime minister at the Royal Establishment described ZRA as a very important arm in the development of the country.

Ngambela Manyando said taxes collected by the Authority enable Government to provide development projects like feeder roads, adding that for development to materialise, ZRA must collect taxes.

“We want to participate in matters of development, which ZRA supports by collecting tax revenues,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Royal Establishment has supported the country’s growing reliance on Domestic Resource Mobilisation (DRM), stating that such measures will reduce the country’s debt burden.

Earlier, the ZRA Commissioner General explained how the growing shift in foreign aid has made it necessary to focus on Domestic Resource Mobilisation.

Mr. Banda explained that the contribution of ZRA to the national budget has significantly increased to 71.7% this year, from 49% in 2021. He added that ZRA’s share in the national budget is projected to increase to 80.9% by 2028.

ZRA and the Kuta agreed the need for more engagements to enhance tax awareness and education.
