Sixty-four (64) taxpayers have today, 9th June 2025 graduated from the inaugural Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) training program, a significant initiative aimed at enhancing taxpayer education and engagement in Zambia.
ZRA Commissioner General Dingani Banda highlighted the vital role of education in fostering a culture of tax compliance. He reminded the graduates that they are now ambassadors of tax compliance who should advocate for transparency and responsibility within their communities, inspiring a future where tax compliance is embraced rather than enforced. “Your knowledge is a powerful tool for fostering trust and accountability in our tax system,” he stated.
Also speaking at the ceremony, ZRA Acting Commissioner for Business Facilitation, Yvonne Mwanza, revealed plans to expand the program, including certifiable academic offerings and postgraduate programs in customs and tax management. This expansion reflects ZRA’s commitment to providing comprehensive education that addresses the evolving needs of taxpayers.
ZRA Director of Taxpayers and Education, Mirriam Sabi, expressed her pride in the graduates and emphasized the significance of this milestone. “Today marks not only the completion of your training but also the beginning of your journey as informed taxpayers,” she said. “Your commitment to learning will help shape a more knowledgeable taxpayer community and contribute to the nation’s economic growth.”
The training program encompassed essential courses such as Indirect Taxes and Excise (ITE), PAYE, and Smart Invoicing, equipping graduates with the necessary skills to enhance tax compliance.
