The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) commemorated the 2025 World AIDS Day in Ndola, with staff reminded of the importance of collective action in the ongoing fight against HIV/AIDS.
The commemoration served as a reminder that each individual plays a crucial role in combating stigma and ensuring that HIV/AIDS services are accessible to everyone.
ZRA Acting Commissioner General, Timothy Milambo, highlighted the Authority’s commitment to sustaining efforts in fighting the HIV/AIDS pandemic, even amidst funding crises and other global challenges.
“This year’s theme reminds us that while we have made progress, challenges remain and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that no one is left behind,” Mr. Milambo said.
Mr. Milambo emphasized that, despite the setbacks, disruptions should not be allowed to define the future. Resilience and transformation are essential in the fight against the scourge.
And ZRA Union President, Catherine Choba, noted the significant obstacles faced since the onset of the HIV pandemic.
Mrs. Choba stressed that communities like ZRA continuously step up to support the most vulnerable, even with limited resources, ensuring access to testing, treatment and using innovative tools such as mobile health services are made available.
“Even in our resilience, we must strive to transform our response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Transformation means centering human rights and ensuring that no one is left behind,” she said, echoing the need for sustained leadership and international cooperation in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
This year’s event was held at Mpendwa House in Ndola, bringing together over 200 staff members from various stations, under the theme ‘Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response.’
