The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has reaffirmed its strong partnership with GIZ, describing it as a “true friendship” built over 15 years of collaboration in advancing fiscal reforms.
Speaking during a courtesy call by German delegation led by State Secretary for the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development Nils Annen, ZRA Commissioner General Dingani Banda highlighted the consistency and reliability of GIZ’s support.
He noted, the partnership has played a key role in strengthening Zambia’s fiscal resilience while improving service delivery to taxpayers.
Mr. Banda explained with GIZ’s backing, ZRA has implemented a series of reforms aimed at becoming more taxpayer focused and data-driven. Central to this transformation is the Bulk Intelligence Data Analysis (BIDA) system, which integrates previously fragmented data sources to enhance taxpayer profiling and improve detection of non-compliance.
He added, digital innovations such as TaxOnApp, TaxOnPhone, and Mobile Tax Offices have significantly increased access to tax services, bringing them closer to communities across the country.
In response, State Secretary Nils Annen commended the progress made through the partnership, expressing appreciation for the shared commitment between ZRA and GIZ to enhance Zambia’s domestic resource mobilisation and overall fiscal stability.
During the visit, the delegation was also toured the Mobile Tax Office (MTO) and the customer service unit, to observe first-hand how ZRA’s service improvements are being implemented for the benefit of taxpayers.
