The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) hosted a training on the Exchange of Information on Request Assessment and Monitoring processes.
The training provides critical international tools enabling tax authorities to fight cross-border tax evasion by sharing taxpayer financial data.
The training is supported by the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes (Global Forum).
The Global Forum is the leading multilateral body mandated to ensure that jurisdictions around the world adhere to and effectively implement transparency and exchange of information standards.
Zambia joined the Global Forum in 2024.
Officially opening the training in Livingstone this morning, ZRA Commissioner General Dingani Banda said by learning from each other, tax jurisdictions are able to identify areas of improvement and collectively strengthen the fight against tax evasion and illicit financial flows.
In a speech read for him by ZRA Director – Tax Business Policy and Support, Clive Mulendema, Mr. Banda said the gathering reflects commitment to transparency and effective exchange of information for tax purposes among members.
And Alex Nuwagira, a Tax Policy Advisor at the Global Forum commended ZRA for hosting the training which has brought together tax experts from 12 countries across the globe.
Countries represented at the training are Greece, Japan, Kenya, Lesotho, Rwanda, Tanzania, Türkiye, United Arab Emirates, Uganda, United Kingdom, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
