ZRA INTERCEPTS SEVEN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS IN KAPIRI MPOSHI

The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has intercepted seven (7) illegal immigrants of Somalian origin who were concealed in a transit vehicle bound for Zimbabwe.

The interception was made during a routine enforcement exercise in Kapiri Mposhi, when officers stopped a Toyota Probox en route to the Chirundu One Stop Border Post.

A thorough inspection of the vehicle revealed the seven individuals hidden beneath bags of rice and assorted goods in the rear cargo compartment.

The Zambian driver and the immigrants were immediately handed over to the Department of Immigration for profiling and legal processing under the Immigration and Deportation Act.

In a separate incident, the Authority impounded a motor vehicle that was illegally imported into Zambia after its temporary import permit expired. The vehicle entered through the Kasumbalesa Border Post in December 2025 and remained in the country beyond its permit validity, in breach of customs regulations.

The Zambia Revenue Authority would like to remind importers to comply with customs laws, as violations attract enforcement action, including seizure.

These operations highlight ZRA’s dual mandate of protecting Zambia’s borders while safeguarding national revenue.
