The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Bankers Association of Zambia (BAZ) and other financial sector stakeholders to enhance domestic resource mobilisation and strengthen tax administration.
Speaking during a high‑level engagement with BAZ in Lusaka, ZRA Commissioner General Dingani Banda emphasized that collaboration with banks is critical to improving tax compliance, sealing revenue leakages, and ensuring efficient and predictable administration.
He noted that the financial sector plays a pivotal role in national development and must actively support the Authority in raising revenue for the government.
BAZ Chairperson Mwindwa Siakalima underscored the importance of system integration between banks and ZRA, highlighting that such collaboration would help flag suspicious transactions and support investigations, including those involving cross‑border data access.
Adding to the discussion, First National Bank (FNB) Chief Executive Officer Kapumpa Chola stressed that improved information sharing between ZRA and financial institutions would enhance transparency and strengthen compliance across the sector.
This engagement forms part of ZRA’s ongoing efforts to deepen stakeholder collaboration in support of national revenue collection targets. By collaborating with the banking industry, the Authority aims to build a more transparent, resilient, and accountable financial ecosystem that supports Zambia’s broader development agenda.
