The ZRA Commissioner of Customs has congratulated the new officers undergoing the Customs Basic course and reminded them of the importance of their call to duty, describing customs administration as a calling to public service.
Speaking at the opening of the basic course in Lusaka, Acting Commissioner Customs Enock Kasapato (Deputy Commissioner Operations- South) stated that, the officers will be expected to operate at the frontline of government service, with responsibilities that include collecting correct revenue, facilitating trade, enforcing border controls, protecting our environment, and compiling trade statistics that influence national policy. these duties demand not only technical expertise but also strong professional discipline and high ethical standards.
He reminded them of the importance of the ZRA core values, which they needed to embody in their execution of duties.
“Let me remind you that integrity is not an abstract value; it is the cornerstone of public trust,” he added.
He further stressed that the course also provides preparation in leadership skills to deal with complex and dynamic situations.
The session of the 2025 Customs basic course has 30 enrolled officers who will be attending the training on a full-time basis.
