The entry of motor vehicles temporarily imported into Zambia by visitors and tourists for their own use, and for persons transiting through is done using the Integrated Border Declaration Form (IBDF).
Features of the Form
The Integrated Border Declaration Form (IBDF) has the following features:
- it is used for entry of motor vehicles temporarily imported into Zambia by visitors and tourists for their own use;
- it is used for entry of a personal motor vehicles transiting through Zambia;
- it is used for the importation of visitors/ travellers accompanied baggage on the motor vehicle referred to in 1 and 2 above ;
- it can be used for the declaration of currency in excess of USD 5,000 equivalent;
The IBDF Clearance Process
The integrated border declaration form is issued through the following steps:
Step 1: The traveller arrives at the border and provides the following information to Customs:
- Personal information details;
- Particulars of motor vehicle details
- Travelling details;
- Goods declaration details; and
- Any currency to declare;
The traveller will also be required to fill in an inspection form for the motor vehicle.
Step 2: Assessment of goods by Customs
The declaration will be assessed and given to the traveler
Step 3: Payment of applicable fees and taxes
The traveler will proceed and make payment for all the applicable fees and taxes at once;
Step 4: Issuance of the IBDF
Customs will issue a receipt of payment and a printout of the IBDF to the traveller
