ZRA AND ZICA COMMIT TO ENHANCE VOLUNTARY TAX COMPLIANCE

The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) and the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) have committed to strengthen collaborations in order to enhance voluntary tax compliance.

Speaking during the quarterly ZRA-ZICA stakeholder engagement held today, ZICA representative Michael Phiri said ZICA will continue assisting ZRA in carrying out its mandate through taxpayer education and awareness programmes during ZICA meetings to it’s members and the general public.

And ZRA Commissioner General Dingani Banda acknowledged ZICA as a strategic stakeholder and pledged to continue engaging the Institute on various tax issues in order to enhance tax compliance among various taxpayers.

The meeting also shared updates on recent system developments as well as new tax policy matters as pronounced in the 2023 National Budget. Feedback on various strategies being implemented by ZRA, from the accounting profession and the business community in general was shared.

On the other hand, ZICA was taken through the recently commenced Tax Amnesty Programme, and ZRA implored the Institute to encourage businesses to take advantage of the Amnesty.

ZRA and ZICA hold quarterly engagements to review various tax matters.
